Why it matters on a large-format printer

A 10-hour print on a 1,800 mm part failing at hour 9 is a costly disaster. The clog detector runs a continuous comparison between how much filament the extruder motor is commanded to push and how much actually moves — catching deviations the moment they occur, triggering a pause before a bad layer gets buried under 50 more.

What it detects

• Runout — spool runs empty mid-print; sensor triggers a filament-change pause before a gap layer is laid down
• Under-extrusion — a layer deposits less material than commanded (partial clog, worn gear, slipping filament); detected as a deficit between feed commands and actual movement
• Full clog — the nozzle or heatbreak blocks completely; motor commands continue but filament movement stops, triggering an immediate pause

How it works
